It is a big idea and would work if the people are there, once its less populated like any online community it dies slowly and surely. For sony this could be big, granted the internet, sony computers, PS3, and later playstation generations. Perhaps this could grow and not plummet.
I would say this is a good step and does need the broadest approach as possible maybe include the PSP, or another affiliates entangle another sort of IM service with it.

Home fails, and fails hard.
Of course, to go to a Home 'retail store', the consumers have to actually own a PS3 first. If 'avatar-style' systems become more common on more systems, I could see this working... but that'll take a while, if ever.

You can click on "PermaLink" which will open the full article and doesn't use the new vote code though. ;)
First off i do like the idea of home, may it continue to grow and change. That is a fact that sony has to keep in mind, to have an online community you have to grow with them, their needs and wants, as well as them growing with you. To have enough content, free or not, to enable everyone to find their nich.
As stated online communities die off all the time, keep it growing sony remember your base and future bases and it should be an excellent platform for sony for many years. cheers
