Sony has confirmed that VidZone will go live on June 11, 2009 for PS3 users.

The free service gives you access to thousands of streaming music videos on demand, just in case you didn’t know.

Users can expect 10,000 videos right off the bat to download off PSN, with more to come.

Press Release: Turn your PLAYSTATION 3 into a music video jukebox on June 11th - with three solid weeks’ worth of videos from day one!

London, 10th June 2009: VidZone, the revolutionary on-demand music video service for PLAYSTATION 3 from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, is confirmed to go live on Thursday 11th June. VidZone is a brand new, free service that gives you the freedom to view thousands of music videos on demand by streaming them directly to your PS3 and onto your TV screen - complete with Surround Sound.

It’s launching with a bang and it’s packed with a huge library of over 10,000 videos. What does that mean? It means that if you put them all into a single playlist and watched it for 24 hours a day, seven days a week – it would take you three solid weeks to watch it all. And there’s much, much more on the way.

VidZone is completely free and extremely easy to use. Just download the free VidZone application from PlayStationStore, find it under the ‘music’ icon on your PS3’s XrossMediaBar menu and you’re away. You don’t have to watch somebody else’s choice of music – you’re in complete control here. Select single videos to watch on their own – with the option of rewinding and fast-forwarding – or create your own library of streaming music and make custom playlists for every occasion.

Whether you want a playlist for a living-room workout or a house party – or whether you just want to check out your favourite musician’s dance moves or guitar fretwork – VidZone gives you all the options and puts you in complete control. You can even create a playlist via PSP (PlayStationPortable) and have it waiting for you on PS3 when you get home.

With major music labels on board as well as thousands of independents, you can count on getting the latest videos from the biggest names – including regular exclusives and world premieres. A first glance at a sample VidZone playlist reveals videos from artists including Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Fatboy Slim, Black Eyed Peas, Glasvegas, Dizzee Rascal, P!nk, Noisettes, Ne-Yo, Armand van Helden, Tori Amos and Akon, among others – but that’s just a few. With 10,000 videos on there and more to come, you’ll find what you’re into.

Set to transform the music video experience, VidZone joins Blu-ray movies, music, digital TV, games and Internet one more reason to make PS3 the centre of your home entertainment experience. Download VidZone from PlayStationStore on June 11th and put yourself in control. Find out more at www.vidzoneps3.com.

I would trade the video store for the PlayStation TV and VidZone any day. I suppose I'll try downloading this tomorrow anyways, would be great if it works on my US console.

What Playstation Store will this be in? US/EU/JPN? it doesnt mention..

Also, what sorta bandwidth do you require for this? does it stream it for each video? or will it cache them entirely first? will it cache at all? this could be a huge BANDWIDTH consumer if these files are huge!

I am confused as well.... Sony entertainment of Europe may have announced it. But it may come out for the USA as well? I don't know it sounds pretty cool though.

Yeah, kind a Strange stuff. I live in Australia and I've been checking PSN regularly throughout the day and I haven't found any Vidzone App.

I pretty confused because Vidzone did say that they were launching "tonight" so where is the app?

The app is most probably IP region locked, I live in Romania (Europe), trying to access it trough an UK account and it's not possible! HOME and PS Store works but vidzone is not!:(~ Of course my default account does not work with neither one  !
It says it's only available in UK, Spain, France and some other countries...

So sadly for the majority of PS3 users, this time SONY WAS SMART ENOUGH TO SCAN FOR IP REGIONS not only for users countries!

Hehehe.. I'll try a proxy sometime later and share the results with you!

For everyone who got the TOO BUSY error don't try it no more if you are not in those countries! IT JUST DOES NOT WORK!

I'm able to connect using a proxy, but I still receive an error during the update library thing.

EDIT: Ok I got VidZone working using a proxy server. It took a while but I'm in finally. I guess it depends on the server's load (public free proxy servers suck in general anyway)

Good work. What country's store are you connecting at? UK store?

Hi i got this on my uk console (in uk) and while its quite good, there are several annoying problems with it...

1. Unable to accept license unless you use a controller (ie can't use the BD remote)
2. Unable to use the service at all with a BD remote! (Come on - WTF!?)
3. Poor/unintuative navigation (eg to get back to the main menu, once you have something playing, you have to go into a sub menu and then find a link at the bottom of one of the menus to go to the homepage)
4. Horrendous load time for intiial application boot up (AFTER initial installation boot - which takes even longer while it sets up the vid library)

Nice idea, poorly implemented. :(

Will probably use it from time to time, but the titles listed currently are pretty limited - has a Search feature so i thought i'd try for some GreenDay - not a sausage. Has got most UK chart stuff though by the looks of it - hopefully they'll expand the title list.

My rating: 6/10
(Would much prefer to have the video store you lot in the US have!!)

Tested and works nice, 23 MB Download, Install... and then go. My Ps3 is now worked by my Girlfriend -.- Crap :D But nice, the videos loads up fast and the sound is very good.

Vid Quality is ahh not so nice, but ok. And the Remote doesn't work proper in v 1.01.

You make a new XMB/PSN account for the country that's supported by VidZone. go to the shop and download the application and install it.

Search for a fast and reliable proxy server (pay-server preferred).
Go to network settings, when prompted to use a proxy server, enter it's IP and port number, Test you connection and start VidZone. No need to use PS3.ProxyServer.GUI. Just make sure the proxy server matches the country you want to use to get into VidZone

Yes, I would love to have the video store too. PS3 stores should have the same content to offer all the users as much as possible.

I'm trying for more than 2 hours with various proxy sites, the best I accomplished was getting by the country check, even the initial database download, but got stuck at UPDATING feeds is with this proxy:

213.229.149.94:8080 - UK account from Romania ;)

If anyone has a better proxy that offers speed and access to UK account please share! I tried all addresses that were freely available on the net! Please advise!

Still stuck at updating video feeds.. must be some network error from my side... maybe my router? I'll try some direct connection (PPPOE) but it's pretty difficult because of how I made the wiring throughout the apartment!

All these people who are the the US and complain they can't get vidzone should think themselves lucky . We in Europe haven't got the video store on PSN that you in the US have, so you give us access to the PSN video store and we'll give you vidstore. sounds fair to me.

ice :hmm:
