The PS3 HDD getting decrypted is starting to become quite the joke of the week for anyone not blind in both eyes.

At first, it seemed like there was some truth to it and many of us were quite excited, as the files looked legitimate.

The files were infact, real. Unknown to many (including NDT) at the time, they were just from the PS3's flash filesystem that was accessible with a PS3 TEST.

As we dug deeper, we found out that it was all a web of lies, and what little research was done was stolen from knightsolidus by DemonHades.

Uninformed sites are posting a "decryption" How-to Guide that is nothing but a false proof positive. Said method (involving swapping blocks of known encrypted data for unknown), was used by many of our DEVS including NDT and ggparallel months ago with no success.

So far, every file that was released has been taken from a dump of a Debug firmware, and posted (without permission) in attempt to be played off as something from the PS3's hard disk drive. Why bother.. for attention?!

Now, if this was any true decryption there would be information about the crypto algos, the key lengths, among other things present - but are there? Nope! And there won't be, because this method will not lead to those at all.

The "method" is simply being used as a stopgap to try to soothe the clueless masses after those involved were called out on said crypto algos (for being wrong) and the keys being missing.

Rest assured, if the PS3 HDD is ever actually decrypted you will hear about it first right here!
