Many people feel when it comes to working on a PC, two displays are better than one. But NEC have now thrown a curve ball with the introduction of the wrap-around 43″ widescreen display.

The new screen looks to do away with the need for two displays for extra desktop space, but at the same time make it easier for you to view the extra-wide desktop by making it curved.

To quote: It is called the NEC CRV43 and has a 32:10 aspect ratio with a 2880 x 900 double WXGA native resolution. That’s combined with LED backlighting, a 0.02ms response time, 200 cd/m brightness, and 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

Connectivity includes both DVI-D and HDMI 1.3 allowing for an interesting movie watching experience or some PS3/360 gaming. Finally there’s a built-in USB 2.0 hub for convenience.

NEC are marketing this as a monitor that, “eliminates the bezel and screen gap issues that have complicated users’ work environment for years”. That may be the case, but you would have to really hate the desktop gap you get from using two screens to spend the $7,999 the CRV43 costs wouldn’t you?
