247w ago - This is a TUT to unbrick your Wii with the internal Rescue Menu. You can do this with and without Starfall.
Without Starfall you have to MOD a GC Controller to press all 4 ways of the digi pad to same time and you need a Original Game Disc with a update on it, higher as your installed FW. If you have a Modchip set to autoboot discĀ's than you can use a backup instead of a Original disc. For Starfall you dono need to MOD your GC Pad.
And you could use Backups if the disc size will match the 4,37GB. I self have testet the semi unbrick disc but it does not work without a modchip. There for I made the "Universal Unbrick Disc" becouse the disc will match the 4,37GB and it hase the FW 3.3 update + the WAD Manager as main.dol in the game partition.I will show you how to start both rescue menuĀ's, with an without starfall and i will use the universal unbrick disc with starfall to upgrade (unbrick) my Wii to FW3.3.
When you could use it?
If you run into a brick and your Wii does not start the menu any more but will boot (green led and spinning drive) you have a good chance to be able to start the Wii internal rescue menu to install a FW update or the system menu.wad + IOS via WAD Manager what will unbrick your Wii if you lucky. If your Wii does not boot any more than your only chance will be Nintendo or a pre-dumped NAND image of your consoles flash chip.
Lets start with the normal Recue Menu Methode:
Open up your GC pad useing a triwing scruew driver. Before you open the pad turn around than open it.
Put all back together and connect it to port 4. The next step will be a little bit tricky. You need the correct timing to boot into
the Rescue Menu. Under FW 3.2 you will see nothing more than a blank black screen. On FW 3.2 and higher you will see a FW x.x down in the
right corner. Here a Vid of booting the Rescue Menu with normall method:
The Starfall Rescue Menu Methode:
To use this you must have installed the Starfall rescue menu hacks.Than just connect the GC pad to port 1 and press "Y" duoring bootup. Hier a Vid of it in action:
Unbrick your Wii:
Now we know both methodes i will go on and upgrade my CFW 3.2 Wii with my Universal Unbrick Disc to a FW 3.3 Wii.
Hier the Vid:
As you can see it hase not installed the update but started the WAD Manager.Even better becouse you could choose the wad you want to install!
My Universal Unbrick Disc will be set to autoboot and i forgot that this will disable the update and directly load the main.dol from the second partition.
This works on my Softmodded Wii with CFW and Starfall installed. It should also work with a Modchip (even with no autoboot seted) and no Starfall installed.
Anyway with the WAD Manager you will be secured but i want to find a IOS to set the partition to load what will be present on every Wii. Becouse last time i haved a wii without the IOS35 what the second partition of the uud will be load and i cant start the WAD Manager even the app reload the IOS249.
Before reloading IOS the IOS from the game partition must be present to be load into the ram.I will try it with IOS4 what will be the
update driver and present on every wii. If it works i will reupload the uud.
-Good Luck in Unbricking your Wii-

Hu its a long time ago now...glade to here that one of my work is still helping peoples to your problem:
First the UUD's always call the IOS249 our cIOS and LCUD call the IOS36 wich is one of the first system IOS's, present on all wii's (even as a stubed version) and allowe the execution of un/fake signed code. BootMiiDiisc call the BootMii IOS. So if you dont have installed BootMii as IOS it want work.
AutoBoot BootMii/ARC are not my work and i dont know wich base image they have used to make there discs plus i always tried to let the image look like a original one in case of informations within the img it self.
The Rescue Menu do some checks on the img and normally you need hacks to diactivate those routines. But UUDv4 and LCUD match this cecks and you dont need said hacks to boot my disks. You should get my RescueMii CORE RescueMii-CORE which is a pack with importend hacked system IOS's including the BootMii IOS. If you have installed this pack you dont need to install any system IOS up to FW 4.2. Just install the system menu wad then.
If 4.1 dont work try 4.2 or 3.2. Dont forget to install the system menu hacks if you can get a fw working. If no of the fw's work and you still get a blak screen buy a new BT device and change it. It's easy and work on plug and play way. The BT device is one of the first loaded from a cold boot and if it is damaged it cant answer and the console run into a stop. There for the system menu dont get loaded and cant run. But normally you also cant access the rm then.
cfwprophet: Can I have your professional help on the following?
I'm breaking my head over this Wii for almost 2 full days. History of the Wii:
Wii with DriveKey. Official firmware 4.3
Modded the Wii succesfully with Indiana Pwns
Someone installed/removed a wad because the USB loader was not working correctly anymore.
Re-installed all the wads from a modpack on wiihacks.
Wii was working again so I also tried to re-install Prii-loader
Prii-loader bricked the Wii. I could no longer boot to the system menu
I could boot to Prii-loader and I installed System Menu 4.1 from Wad manager.
At this point the Wii was fully bricked. No more System menu. No more Prii-loader
savemiifrii works and shows me 4.1 (EUR)
UUDv4 wasn't booting with the aid of savemiifrii
"Last Change Unbrick Disc" was booting with the use of savemiifii (and an other dvd-drive with a WiiKey2)
Managed to reinstall IOS249 using Last change unbrick disc
Managed to boot the Universal Unbrick Disc now
So.. at this point I have a working Universal Unbrick Disc v4 (UUDv4) which boots to WAD Manager 1.5 but I can't seem to unbrick it.
I can't seem to get other autoboot discs working (AutoBoot AnyRegionChanger v1.1bM5, AutoBoot Bootmii, BootMiiDiisc,...) Only UUDv4 and LCUDv3. I also followed the steps to install IOS60patched and System Menu v450 (4.1e). Still black screen at boot.
I’ve got here a 003 bricked Korean Wii with 4.2U FW.
I’ve a working Savemiifrii and a working autoboot modchip, so I can boot games. The Wii was softmodded, but the trucha bug restorer wasn’t applied. The boot2 bootmii couldn’t be installed. Because of this I can’t boot modified titles.
I’ve tried the Castlevania Judgement (NTSC) solution, the game boots fine, but when I swap the modded disk, the laser start “jumping” trying to focus, the operation was redone several times, including recompiling the modded iso and reburning the DVD. I’ve read that this happens because the modded game doesn’t pass the signature check.
I’ve found these two solutions:
-Update the console with an original game that has a 4.2KOR update.
-Inject the 4.2KOR update partition in a working US game – the Wii doesn’t check signature in the update partition. Also the update files are original.
The only option I have, is to inject the update because it’s impossible to get an original 4.2KOR game here, in south america.
And the trouble is that I can’t get the 4.2KOR update files. There’s no new korean games available to download in the net.
So can somebody share the 4.2KOR or 4.3KOR update files and tell me how to properly inject them in the Castlevania Judgement game disk please?
