X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Uncaged Edition Review by Shummyr:

Name of Game: X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Uncaged Edition
Publisher: Activision
Release Date: 5-1-2009
Genre: Action and Adventure
Player: 1
Buy/Don't: No (But makes a good weekend rental)
Overall Rating: 5.0 out of 10.00
Platforms: XBox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and PC

This is a simple hack-and-slash game... it will take about 20 hours to complete. The camera is fluid but can be a tad bit jerky at times, other than that it's good.

The story is somewhat shallow and the flashbacks are frequent. The controls, however, are very well placed and easy to remember.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Uncaged Edition) presents an excellent amount of challenges, and the achievements are strategically placed so that unlocking them coincides with relevant parts of the storyline.

It's also very neat how you can unlock old costumes and play with the classic costumes.

This game reminds me a lot of Wolverine's Revenge.. very similar if not a remake, with updated graphics and a new storyline.

The reason I would not buy this game instead of renting it is because I'm not a big fan of hack-and-slash genre (it's boring) and there is basically no replay value. You play through it once, and you have completed the game.

Note: This review was based on the XBox 360 version.

Shummyr (Desert Rat Game Review)

Ups

Rating

Gameplay - 3.0
Fun Factor - 1.0

Overall - 5.0 (out of 10/not an average)

I'd agree with the review... the games a generic hack and slasher... the demo was awful and the actual game isnt much better.

I didnt even think the graphics were that good either... although to be honest some attacks do look pretty cool, like when you attack a chopper pilot through the windscreen.

I kinda disagree, the game is worth a bit more than 5 imo. Not saying it's great though.

Anyone else think it's kinda weird that the demo didn't come out until a week after the movie came out?

No but I find it weird how everyone in here hates the game but most everyone else I've talked to loved it. It was a great game, for a movie license game anyway. Not worth 70 dollars, but I'm pretty sure the fun factor is way higher than a 1/10. I'm aghast.

There was replayability in it. You unlock hard mode after finishing the game and the game has plenty of trophies and achievements. There are dog tags and mutagens to collect and you can continue leveling your character to 40 after you finish the game.

If not the best video game based on a movie ever, it was at least the best since Spiderman 2.

The majority of movie game adaptations suck really bad, and they tend to be rushed either to be released before the movie or at the same time.

X Men Origins: Wolverine is no different, the graphics are bad, the controls are bad, but the overall gameplay is good, and the camera angles are good.

The way i see it is its another game added to the PS3 library (with some PSN exclusive content, which i think is yet to be announced - besides the feral senses thing on iphone/ps3 case) and unless PS3 games start becoming like Wii developers projects, then all is good lol.
