An ongoing petition by hodsey77 and Facebook group is requesting a patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

According to the petition, those with a particular type of red/green color blindness, to quote, "cannot tell friend from foe in the online matches, as their names appear in these colors, and the radar uses the colors too."

Infinity Ward's community manager fourzerotwo has acknowledged that he will bring up the concern to the team, as follows:

"Blue is actually already used for people in a Party while playing #MW2. I will be bringing up the color blind concern though."

Considering color blindness is relatively common, especially among males, it's surprising that it isn't tested for more regularly.

Cool idea, funny how fast I read off those circle flash cards just now. I guess I don't have this issue.

8% of all males I guess are effected by this. Since the X Chromosome carries your ability to see colors, and since women have 2 instead of 1, It effects males more often. Simple biology you learn in high school, we went over it in class last year.

I am partially color blind, only got 25 and 56 on that card. I wouldn't say I have had problems with names or the map, find it a lot harder to spot people in the general game than I did on MW but I couldn't see that being color blindness. Surprising this hasn't come up before, the map and names colors haven't changed from MW have they? So why is it a problem now.

I can barely see whats on the first card much less the others... yes I am special. LOL

this won't get through though, IW doesn't give a damn enough to do something this minor.

Its interesting because you're not supposed to use colour to give meaning in web design for this exact reason and it goes against accessibilty guidelines. Companies can be sued for such simple things, although I'm unsure as to how it relates to games
