The box art simply features Lightning and the Final Fantasy XIII logo.
The image of Lighting is has been seen frequently in Final Fantasy XIII promotions before, include a desktop wallpaper on the official website for the game.
Box art for Final Fantasy titles in North America usually feature representations of characters, or a single character, so FFXIII has indeed followed suit in this case.
However, the same box art will be used in Europe, where Final Fantasy games typically feature just the game's logo.

i really cant wait for this game, but i am sick of seeing lightning now!
I really loved the simplicity of the series box art just having the games logo, and so posting a character (any character, not just lightning) is kind of disappointing

Wow, I really hate this artwork. Its not iconic at all. Look at the boxarts for all the other games and you'll get the feeling of either 3 things, struggle, fantasy, or adventure. This cover says next to nothing about the game.
The only thing it really has going for it is the slight sensuality of the lifted bare leg, but thats not much.
And imho, the logo for this installment sucks as well, but thats a different post.
But in the end I wont judge a book by its cover. I just pray its better than FFXII. The story for that game was absolutly terrible. I got it during the midnight release, and STILL have not beaten it. I just cant bear to go on playing something so boring.
